We are excited to announce the release of our Sustainability report 2024, highlighting the significant progress made in our sustainability efforts over the past year. The report provides insights into our CO2e baseline, our cow longevity programme, new innovations, and how we are aligning our targets with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
“Through innovation and action, we make sustainable food production possible. Sustainability is not just about the environment; it includes people throughout the value chain,” says Paul Löfgren, President and CEO.
Commitment to sustainability
Innovation is key to our sustainability efforts, allowing us to create products and services that reduce emissions and improve animal welfare. Our animal welfare products and longstanding knowledge on improving animal health and cow longevity put us in a strong position to gain social acceptance for farming.
We concentrate our sustainability efforts where we can create the greatest impact and add business value both for our customers and ourselves. Our commitment is clear: by advancing our sustainability priorities and fostering collaboration, we aim to secure the future of our business. Together, we are shaping a sustainable tomorrow.
ESG Reporting audit and double materiality assessment
In 2023, we conducted an ESG reporting audit that identified prioritised topics for our organisation’s focus. These topics underwent a double materiality assessment to evaluate their significance for our stakeholders. The audit has led to a three-year plan focusing on 10 key topics to enhance our ESG performance.
To us, sustainable food production is more than an ambition, it is the cornerstone of our entire business strategy. We have aligned our sustainability work with the UN Sustainable Development
Goals and concentrated on the ones where we believe we make the biggest difference.
Greenhouse gas emissions baseline
We established a greenhouse gas emissions baseline of 1.4 million tonnes CO₂e for 2024, based on 2022 data. The largest GHG emissions arise from the use of our sold products on farms, influencing overall emissions. We focus on high-impact areas such as raw materials and product usage to reduce emissions effectively.
Introducing circularity initiatives
Our initiatives with universities aim to refurbish and reuse products, enhancing circularity in production.
Compliance with EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive
We are preparing for the EU CSRD and see this as an opportunity to enhance our position in the dairy industry by showcasing our sustainability practices. Meeting the CSRD requirements by 2026 helps us strategically prepare for future challenges in corporate sustainability.
